Free Training for all at Mullaghmore House, Omagh

Mullaghmore House in Omagh opens its doors again for the Winter and Spring term intake of students. This semester sees a continuation of our new 'Flexible Learning Programme', giving students each Thursday a unique opportunity to experience Woodworking, Furniture Restoration/ making, Veneering or picture framing within the fully equipped workshops. On this Students have the opportunity of purchasing workshop hour's with tutor guidance and support. A great recreational course' declares Keith Kelly 'with increasingly busy lifestyles and less personal time we felt that this gives the public a chance to and gain some learning within a flexible time framework that suits the learner'.

The New Year intake also focuses on new FREE courses. These courses are funded by the WEA and give everyone in the community a unique opportunity to train for FREE! So from young mums at home, to those retired, or wishing to train for a new job Mullaghmore House can help.

Small class numbers and hands on tutors ensure that the students can adapt and develop their skills and ability at their own speed. Classes are filling up quickly, so come on; grab an enrolment form, for training at Mullaghmore House.

The Project received confirmation of Interreg IIIA funding of £341,475 in September 2003, the main aim of this cross-border project is to establish Mullaghmore House as a unique Centre, providing innovative vocational training on all aspects of antique restoration and wider appreciation of conservation and heritage, for a diverse spectrum of participants.  It will promote a lifelong learning culture providing participants with basic through to highly transferable skills, within a safe, supportive and secure learning environment without bias.

Treat yourself to a laidback learning experience within beautiful ambient surroundings.  All of our courses are delivered as individual modules and provide you as the learner with the practical 'hands on' experiences required in the real world.  Our courses fall into four main categories –

  • Restoration                  
  • Heritage and Conservation
  • Design
  • Traditional Crafts

All courses provided are conducted within the walled grounds of the Mid-Georgian House.  The old barns, stables and coach houses have all been converted into fully equipped studios and individual workshop stations. Following customer demand we currently offer you as the learner the flexible opportunity to purchase hours of tutored workshop time, on our restoration and woodworking courses.
