The Art of Finland Comes To Ireland

Kari Kulmakorpi, a 46 year old from Finland was the latest placement student to stay with us in the Historical Mullaghmore House. Kari, an engineer in wood technology, currently works at IImajoki School of Crafts, Design & Culture. He wished to expand his knowledge of Irish woodworking methods and techniques by coming to Mullaghmore House and drawing on the many years of experience built up by our team of craftsmen.

Kari’s personal qualifications and expertise also returned the favour, his experience as a qualified Furniture Restorer and Teacher resulted in fine restoration work being produced, including a beautifully restored Victorian Ladies Workbox.

We would like to thank Kari and another student Aniko from Budapest, Hungary who’s expertise in plasterwork restoration during her stay, helped add to the ever growing international theme at Mullaghmore House.
